There's music in it: Music Worx Incubator seeks founders by June 20 deadline
Today, digital technologies dominate both the consumption and production of music - a trend that will intensify in future and offer new growth opportunities for the entire music industry. The Hamburg-based incubator Music Worx is now aiming to seize the opportunities offered by this development.
Launched by Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, Music Worx is Europe's first publicly-funded incubator for the sector. The application phase for this year's batch is already underway and lasts until the deadline of June 2022. The search is on for founders and start-ups with new business models at the interface of music and technology.
The Music Worx programme caters to the early stages of idea generation. Over a period of three months, up to four teams will receive financial support, individual training and coaching. Another special feature will be the use of the so-called product fields - a method that eases complex decision-making for all participants. Only a few guidelines have been put in place to allow a development space in which the teams set their own pace and course. Music Work is taking this approach to set itself apart from the “big player attitude” of many commercialised incubators and to focus instead on a needs-based and agile scheme.
In terms of network and mentors, Music Worx offers everything that makes Hamburg so strong - including close co-operation with many businesses, the city’s music industry network with its major labels, publishers and media companies, as well as international festivals and conferences. Strong mentors who support the teams with professional input and individual advice are thus guaranteed.
