Leipzig-based startup DOCYET wins the Health Innovation Award, which took place for the fourth time in 2024. The competition was held under the heading “Customized Healthcare” and focused on individualised digital solutions for medical treatments. It also marked the end of the medical technology company Philips as the operator of the Health Innovation Port (HIP).

The Health Innovation Award for the last time with Philips

The HIP was opened in October 2017 on the Philips site in the north of Hamburg. Due to the company's new global focus, its involvement in the project is now coming to an end. However, it will continue with Techniker Krankenkasse and the Life Science Nord cluster as leading players. So, there should be a be a Health Innovation Award in 2025 as well. This year, five startups qualified for the final, of which only one was from Hamburg, AllyWell GmbH. AllyWell launched its AllyTime app in March 2024, which offers quick help with mental health problems. Users communicate with real psychologists and not with a chatbot or an AI.

DOCYET guides through the healthcare system

DOCYET was founded in the same year as HIP, in 2017. Accordingly, the startup from Leipzig already has a number of successes to its name, which is likely to have been a crucial factor in the jury's decision. DOCYET develops software solutions to guide patients through the complicated German healthcare system. Practices, clinics and insurance companies form the target group. The number of monthly users is over 10,000. The company received its first approval as a medical product - a key milestone for all startups in the industry - back in 2019.

The remaining three finalists of the Health Innovation Award 2024 are still in the development phase and plan to enter the market in the coming year. kaarlo from Münster offers initial consultation, self-therapy and aftercare for psychosomatic illnesses. pheal from Osnabrück wants to use 'smart patches', sensors attached to the skin, to detect acute heart conditions before they occur, for example. And step into motion from Cologne helps with cancer aftercare with tips and courses for a healthy lifestyle.
