Hamburg startups are driving the digital transformation in the healthcare sector in leaps and bounds: the company AdaLab, by former Machine Learning Master students, for example, is developing machine learning applications for medicine that can predict diseases based on blood data. apoQlar has launched a medical mixed reality platform that is revolutionising medical technology. The software uses Microsoft HoloLens hardware to transform medical images or workflows in clinics into an interactive 3D mixed reality environment.

In the field of biotechnology, for example, the concept of Lignopure is promising. The company is working on being able to use the environmentally friendly and renewable raw material lignin on a large scale in cosmetic products, food or in the pharmaceutical sector.
