How the Health-i-Awards proceed

  1. Registration - Registration takes place via an online portal, which gives you access to your personal application and the associated questionnaire. The application is free of charge.

  2. Review - Handelsblatt, TK and the scientific partner, ‘Chair for Digital Health, Economics and Policy’ at the Hasso Plattner Institute, will review all entries. The best ten startups will go into the community voting with videos they have created themselves.

  3. Community voting - The experts on the Health-i Board and the digital community will vote for their favourites from 7 to 28 August. The results will be included in the jury selection.

  4. Jury meeting - On 5 September, a jury will evaluate the ten finalists, who will present their project live in a short pitch. The jury meeting will take place on site at TK in Hamburg.

  5. Award ceremony - The best three startups will be announced and awarded at the event on 9 October in Hamburg.

These are the participation criteria

All startups based in Germany that are dedicated to innovative, digital, pioneering projects, products, business models and organisational innovations in the healthcare industry are eligible to participate. Ideally, a certification (CE) should already exist, or a pilot study should be available. The startup should have no more than 500 employees and fulfil the following criteria:

  • Novelty - Innovative ideas that represent new solutions or address previously unsolved problems in the healthcare sector are required.

  • Scalability - The startups must have growth potential and business models capable of expansion.

  • Patient benefit - A proof of concept should already exist.

  • Market success and market opportunities - Startups whose healthcare solutions already have a measurable market success are at an advantage.
