3 Hamburg startups that are digitising the healthcare system
One industry that particularly benefits from the innovative power of startups is healthcare. Three examples of how digitisation benefits doctors and patients are provided by the startups Annota, anonetics and Orthopy Health.
Annota
The daily work of doctors in clinics also includes administrative tasks that take up a lot of time that could otherwise be spent treating patients. Founded in 2023, the startup Annota aims to ease this burden. Its focus is on making medical documentation more efficient by using artificial intelligence (AI). The offering consists of a digital assistant that can perform tasks such as speech-to-text transcription and image-to-text recognition. With this concept, Annota has secured a place in the current batch of the AI Accelerator from AI.STARTUP.HUB.
anonetics
On the one hand, AI is becoming increasingly important in the medical field, but on the other hand, fax machines are still used in many places to send documents. This is not only technologically anachronistic, but also problematic for data protection reasons. The startup anonetics has therefore developed a cloud solution that makes the exchange of sensitive data as easy as possible while complying with GDPR regulations. anonetics achieved its first successes in Austria, where a ban on faxes in the healthcare system has been in place since the beginning of the year.
Orthopy Health
Lennart Dörwald, one of the founders of Orthopy Health, knows from his own experience how tedious therapy can be after a cruciate ligament rupture. This gave rise to the idea in 2020 of developing an app to accompany orthopaedic treatment of the knee. In 2021, this app received certification as a medical device, and in 2023, following a successful study, it was approved as a digital health application (DiGA). Since then, the use of Orthopy Health has been covered by health insurance companies. The startup's team now consists of more than 20 people and is developing further use cases for the app.
