A total of 21 teams and solo developers have applied for Gamecity Hamburg's fifth Games Lift incubator. Five projects have qualified for the funding programme, which starts on 9 September and includes a one-year workshop and mentoring programme as well as financial support of 15,000 euros each. In this article, we briefly present the five games projects.
Four teams and one solo developer receive the funding
ForeFeathers by Team Honeybeak is a 3D puzzle platformer in which players take on the role of a penguin exploring the ruins of an ancient bird civilisation floating in the clouds.
In Frisia - Cozy Villages by Rouven Cabanis, players take control of an uninhabited North Sea island and gradually build a functional but also cosy little village.
Light of Atlantis by Duck ‘n’ Run Games is a 2D puzzle game in which players take on the roles of various robots with individual abilities as they explore the sunken ruins of Atlantis. Light of Atlantis received Gamecity Hamburg prototype funding in 2023 and was honoured with the German Computer Game Award in the ‘Best Prototype’ category.
Pubcrawler by Triflgard is a co-op PC game in which up to four players work together as a team to navigate a giant, mechanical, travelling pub through an apocalyptic wasteland.
In Tiny Garden by Tales from the Garden, players take on the role of a deity who fills an abandoned planet with life.
After completing the three-month workshop programme, the participants will present their results to a broad audience in December 2024 as part of a public final pitch. Phase 2 will then begin and run until September 2025. During this phase, selected mentors will provide intensive advice and support. For the first time, the programme will include a joint visit to an international industry event.
