Christmas is not far away and many people are still looking for beautiful and original gifts. Here, Hamburg startups have a lot to offer. For example, Voicestories, hinterland and Kluuf.
Voicestories makes memories audible
"A picture is worth a thousand words", as the old saying goes. However, the Hamburg-based startup Voicestories believes that spoken words significantly enhance the memorable value of a photo. For this and other purposes, it offers small stickers that are labelled with a QR code. Anyone who scans this with a smartphone can then record a voice message that can be played back using the code. The idea came to founder Yvonne Ramat when she wanted to document the development of her son, who was born in 2022, in sound and vision. For Christmas, there is an offer with four stickers and matching postcards.
hinterland offers olive oil and the tree to go with it
Founder Johanna Zoern recently won first place at the Gunnar-Uldall-Wirtschaftspreis. In her pitch, she explicitly recommended the products of her startup hinterland as Christmas gifts. We are happy to pass on this recommendation, as the startup's olive oils have a special story. They come from a village in Spain where farming is still carried out using traditional methods. You buy the oil together with an olive tree, which, depending on the price category, is still very young or already bears plenty of fruit. The online shop also sells honey, wine and other Spanish specialities.
Kluuf cares for men's skin
Skin care has long since ceased to be a topic that only women are concerned with. More and more men are interested in it and Christmas is the best time to try out new products. For example, those from Kluuf, a startup founded by former financial expert Florian Wilhelm. His creams and lotions are vegan and free from ingredients that could cause skin irritation. Microplastics are also avoided. Kluuf's sustainability concept includes the fact that at least 10 per cent of profits should go towards social projects.
