Hamburg is becoming more and more of a metropolis for food startups. One of the reasons for this are the funding programs run by foodlab and Food Harbour. Here you can find out who they are for and how to apply.
The foodlab promotes concepts for the food service industry
The foodlab in Hamburg's HafenCity has long been a meeting place for foodies of all kinds. It offers a coworking space, large kitchen areas, a pop-up restaurant and consulting. Now, for the first time, the team around managing director Christin Siegemund is offering a support program aimed exclusively at Hamburg-based startups from the gastronomy sector. The goal is to give eight founders the necessary jump start. The application process runs until February 20. The new batch will start on April 1.
The support program has eight spots available. The foodlab offers those selected a platform to present themselves, network and receive professional feedback. In the course of the program, the participants compete against each other in the form of challenges until a team or a founder is chosen after nine months. A circle of experts and mentors as well as renowned sponsors and major players in the industry accompany the program.
Food Harbour helps startups with product development
Food Harbour Hamburg is an innovation hub with a wide range of services. In addition to consulting and coaching, there is the opportunity to carry out product developments in its own technical center and to produce and package initial small batches. Startups receive support from experienced developers and cooks. In addition, workspace and communication areas are available if required.
Food startups receive comprehensive support as part of Food Harbour's accelerator program. All young food companies that want to promote their product and are based in the Hamburg metropolitan region can apply. The deadline for applications is February 13, the pitch days for the selection will take place on February 22 and 23, and the program will also start on April 1.
