Success Stories Startups Ecosystem Hamburg

Hamburg is increasingly becoming a leading food location in Germany. The Food Innovation Camp (FIC), which is taking place for the fifth time this year, is making an important contribution to this. On May 22, visitors can expect over 80 startups in the expo, an extensive conference program and a lot of culinary surprises. Many Hamburg companies and institutions will also be prominently represented.

Startups and institutions from Hamburg at the FIC

As always, the venue for the Food Innovation Camp is the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. There, in the Alster-Zimmer from 14:30 to 17:00, the focus will be on Hamburg topics. First, there will be an overview of the various funding programs and financing opportunities that the city offers for startups. Information will be provided by Veronika Reichboth (Head of Startup-Unit Hamburg Invest), Axel Hoops (Head of Department Startup, Funding and Financial Market Hamburg Chamber of Commerce), Wiebke Brandt (Program Manager at IFB Innovationsstarter GmbH), Dr. Annika Schröder (Managing Director at foodactive e.V.), Nils Neumann (Head of Startup Support at TUTECH INNOVATION GMBH, TU Harburg) and Insa Horsch (Managing Director Growth Dock).

Afterwards, nine startups from Hamburg from the areas of food, food tech and sustainability will present themselves. They include traceless materials with a compostable alternative to plastic, Mushlabs, which produces food from fungal mycelium, and Bluu Seafood with fish derived from cell cultures. Also pitching are Goodbytz, SUSY, kale&me, recyclehero, SinC, and Microharvest. Anne and Stefan Lemcke, who have written one of the greatest success stories of the German food scene with their spice startup Ankerkraut, also have a close connection to Hamburg. From 14:00 to 14:30, they will give a workshop in the Merkur-Zimmer.

In addition to the expo and the conference, the FIC Show Kitchen is another highlight. On the rooftop terrace of the Chamber of Commerce, prominent chefs will prepare creative dishes with ingredients from food startups. Innovative drinks will also be served there. And finally, the presentation of the audience award "Your Newcomer 2023" is on the agenda.
