Calls for Transfer (C4T) is a programme that promotes scientific projects that promise social or economic added value. Scientists employed at a state university in Hamburg can apply for funding until 15 February.

The programme is open to all scientific disciplines

Since 2018, C4T has funded a total of 167 projects in eleven rounds. The best-known example is the biotech startup Colipi, which was able to take its first steps thanks to the programme and subsequently received millions in funding. There are no restrictions in terms of subject matter; representatives of all scientific disciplines are eligible to apply. The following selection criteria come into play:

  • Level of innovation: What makes the project particularly innovative?

  • Transfer potential: How is the transfer of knowledge or technology evident in areas of impact such as society, the economy or science?

  • Relevance: What social or economic impact is apparent?

The twelfth C4T funding call is designed as a sprint. The funded projects have a maximum duration of six months, which enables innovative ideas to be implemented quickly. A cost-neutral extension is not possible. The maximum funding amount per project is €35,000 euros. The earliest project start date is 1 May 2026. Anyone who would like to find out more about the application and funding process can attend a digital information event on 28 January from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In addition to general information, there will also be an opportunity to ask specific questions. Registration for the event is via the application page.
