This year, Hamburg Startups is presenting the FIC FOOD AWARD for the sixth time. Food startups from all over Germany and beyond can apply with their innovative products. The deadline for entries is August 8 and the final will take place in October at the foodlab in Hamburg.
The prize will be awarded in the "Best product" category. Foodstuffs of all kinds, including beverages, are eligible to enter, but services or software relevant to the industry are not covered by the award concept. Startups can apply with one product each, which should have a particularly high degree of innovation. In September, a board of trustees made up of industry experts will select three startups from the entries, which will then compete in a final pitch on October 4.
The venue for the final will be the foodlab in Hamburg's HafenCity. The foodlab, event location and site of an accelerator, will also contribute one of the prizes for the winning team. Other prize sponsors include REWE Nord with a listing in their supermarkets and Jahreszeiten Verlag with a media package for their FOODIE magazine.
So far, the FIC FOOD AWARD has been presented in two categories, in previous years additionally for the "best newcomer". Previous winners include Quarkwerk, Heldenbrot, Blue Farm, Laori, Oceanfruit, Basil and Lycka. More information about the competition and the entry form can be found here.
