Gunnar-Uldall-Wirtschaftspreis 2023 goes to hinterland
hinterland has taken first place in the Gunnar-Uldall-Wirtschaftspreis, winning a prize money of 10,000 euros. The award was presented on 22 November at the Hotel Grand Elysée Hamburg. Other winners of the startup competition are Futurised and doctorderma.
hinterland wins with sustainable olive oil
The Gunnar-Uldall-Wirtschaftspreis, named after a former Hamburg Senator for economics, has been awarded annually since 2019. In addition to entrepreneurial action in the spirit of the social market economy, the evaluation criteria include a sustainable business idea, a strong personality with courage, vision and decision-making power as well as social skills. The award's board of trustees felt, that founder Johanna Zoern best fulfilled these criteria. With her startup hinterland, she offers a marketplace for Spanish farmers, who still uses traditional methods. Among other things, customers can buy organic olive oil or even an entire olive tree on site.
Futurised digitalises routine processes
Second place, endowed with prize money of 3,000 euros, went to the software startup Futurised. The two founders Max Schlensag and Eric Böger became entrepreneurs at the age of 18 and concluded a deal on the TV show "Die Höhle der Löwen" this year. Futurised specialises in process automation and mainly targets banks and insurance companies as customers. The startup uses programmes called software robots, that work with the help of artificial intelligence. One area of application is document reading, for example.
doctorderma is an online dermatologist
Third place out of the original 30 applicants went to doctorderma. The health startup, which was awarded 2,000 euros, acts as an online dermatologist and saves patients the long wait for an appointment. To obtain a medical assessment of a skin condition, all you have to do is upload three photos of the affected area of skin, answer a few questions about your symptoms and provide some personal details. You will then receive a diagnosis and, if necessary, a treatment recommendation and prescription within 24 hours. The diagnoses are made by real doctors, who will soon be supported by artificial intelligence.
