With the PROFI Transfer Plus funding programme, the City of Hamburg, together with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), is supporting research and development projects by Hamburg companies. Over the next three years, more than 12 million euros will be available for this programme.

PROFI Transfer Plus provides up to 2 million per project

The programme thus continues the successful work from the previous ERDF funding period: between 2014 and 2020, 20 promising projects from Hamburg companies and cooperating universities and research institutions have already been supported, including companies such as Galab, nachtblau, Class 5 or WPS and universities or research institutions such as the University of Hamburg, TU Hamburg, HAW, DESY or HITeC.

The PROFI Transfer Plus programme supports individual cooperation projects with a grant of up to 2 million euros. The funding rate is up to 60 %. Thematically, the focus is on the future fields of health, climate and energy, mobility, material sciences and new materials as well as data science and digitalisation. In particular, collaborations between several companies and between companies and universities or research institutions are to be promoted. Small and medium-sized enterprises and therefore also startups are a particular focus of the programme. The application is made via IFB Hamburg.

“We want to enable small and medium-sized enterprises in particular to advance new product and process innovations. Co-operation and networking with universities and research institutions are particularly helpful here. Collaborative projects offer the opportunity to transfer existing knowledge into practice. New technologies, products and processes can be tested in practice and ultimately successfully introduced into companies. I am delighted that the PROFI Transfer Plus funding programme can continue to make a valuable contribution here. This is how "future technologies made in Hamburg" are created.”
