Many people dream of running their own restaurant, but the business is tough and there is a long way to go. With its Gastro Accelerator, the foodlab in Hamburg's HafenCity wants to provide valuable help. Applications can be submitted until 31 August.
Gastro Accelerator services and application procedure
The aim of the programme is to make participants as fit as possible for their start in the world of gastronomy. In six months of compulsory workshops, they learn basic knowledge in startup areas such as business plan, calculation, law, rental contract, personnel, marketing, purchasing, product and planning. They also gain access to an extensive network, including farms, wholesalers, production companies and, of course, restaurant owners. The foodlab itself offers a large kitchen area and the chance to test one's potential in a pop-up restaurant.
At the end of the programme, a range of prizes and services from the Accelerator partners will be raffled off, including a consulting package from the agency tellerrand consulting and a trip to Venice. There is also the opportunity to network with alumni from previous runs of the programme. There are no specific application criteria; what is required is a concrete idea as well as a high level of commitment and perseverance. Interested persons can apply here until 31 August. An expert jury will decide who will be accepted into the Accelerator at the Pitch Days on 20 and 21 September. The workshop programme will then begin a few days later.
