Private persons can now use the online identification solution from Hamburg-based startup Nect to register with the online tax office Mein ELSTER. With its service, ELSTER enables citizens to efficiently and highly securely transmit all tax data electronically as part of their annual tax return. With the Nect Wallet, this registration process is now also available to everyone in a completely digital format, making it much easier and faster.

Nect helps to reduce bureaucratic hurdles

More than 120 million tax returns and tax registrations are submitted electronically every year. There are various options available to users to confirm their identity during the registration process. Until now, these have included identification by sending a letter or alternatively registering with an electronic ID card. With the integration of Nect, users can now also use quick registration via the Nect Wallet instead of choosing the classic registration option with a letter.

By using the Nect Wallet, ELSTER is pursuing the goal of simplifying its processes and reducing bureaucratic hurdles in order to make it easier for more people to access digital tax returns. The choice of different identification methods in the Nect Wallet and the large number of readable, international ID documents make the process a user-friendly registration option for many citizens.

“We are very pleased about this important collaboration. ELSTER's decision to integrate the Nect Wallet marks an important step in the digitalisation of administration and sets an example for other use cases.”
