The Hamburg-based startup KONVOI, founded in 2020, is receiving an undisclosed amount from a number of existing and new investors to further expand its market presence. The investment is for a solution with hardware installed on trucks and corresponding software that protects road freight transports against theft and damage.

KONVOI offers an alarm system for trucks

The theft of truck loads causes losses of between one and two billion euros every year in Germany alone. KONVOI has developed a type of alarm system that can be used to detect criminal activities based on typical movement patterns. Sensors detect the movements of people in the immediate vicinity of a truck. If all indications point to an imminent robbery, the KONVOI system triggers an alarm.

KONVOI began in 2020 with an EXIST startup grant; the team currently consists of twelve people and is set to grow further. The necessary financial support comes from business angels, who also contribute a great deal of expertise. The economist Dr. Thomas Ecker has founded several companies himself and is very familiar with the European market. Wolfgang Reuter is an expert in technology-driven innovation processes. And Elke Heidrich-Lorsbach and Michael Lorsbach bring over 30 years of experience from their MedTech company Alcedis.

“With the fresh capital, we are ready to accelerate customer installations, add a key person to our customer success team and standardize our solution for widespread deployment. We are looking forward to the exciting next few months and are optimistic about the further financing of scaling in 2024.”
Heinz Luckhardt, Co-Founder and Managing Director Business
