Drones are much more than toys or weapons of war - many startups have long recognized this and are developing innovative business models around the unmanned aerial vehicles. There are also several examples of this in Hamburg. In this article, we introduce Future Delivery, FlyNex and Beagle Systems.

Future Delivery

Every type of drone has its limitations - be it range, payload or battery capacity. Companies that provide instant delivery services are looking to overcome these limitations so that the use of drones can reach its full potential. Future Delivery's patented technology allows different types of drones to be safely coupled and decoupled in flight. This creates additional uses for drones. For example, a single logistics center outside a city can serve the entire region, and rapid medical care in remote areas could become a reality.

FlyNex

FlyNex offers a software solution for automated inspection and management of infrastructure. With its cloud platform, FlyNex covers the entire application range for data collection by drones. FlyNex's end-to-end solution enables companies and organizations to digitally capture thousands of assets and buildings using drones, satellites or scanners and analyze them using artificial intelligence. FlyNex is already used as a drone and data management solution by well-known companies and technology leaders in the construction, real estate, energy and telecommunications industries.

Beagle Systems

Since its founding in 2019, the startup Beagle Systems has continuously expanded its business model. The startup still received the 2021 Hamburg Founder's Prize for its development of long-range drones suitable for inspecting linear infrastructures and medical transports up to 200 kilometers and up to three kilograms payload. In the meantime, Beagle Systems offers drone-as-a-service and has built up a network that can, in principle, reach any place on earth. It is controlled from Hamburg and its areas of operation range from agriculture to checking power lines to helping with forest fires and other disasters.
