For the fourth time, Hamburg Startups is holding the STARTERiN Hamburg competition for female founders this year. The voting phase, which has just begun and is seeking finalists for three categories, will run until 27 October. The final will take place on 3 December at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.
The final will be the highlight of a new conference
Female entrepreneurs from the Hamburg metropolitan region whose startups are no more than five years old were able to apply for a place in one of the three categories: ‘Tech’, “Commerce” and ‘Impact’. A total of 36 startups and their founders or founding duos, twelve per category, are now up for voting. The candidates are encouraged to activate their communities and thus help to gain high visibility, one of the main objectives of the competition. The two founders in each category with the most votes will present their startup ideas to an audience and a jury of experts on 3 December. The final will take place as part of the full-day Connect & Learn conference. Katharina Fegebank, Hamburg's Second Mayor, has once again agreed to be the patron of the event.
Last year, Dr Antje Kallweit and Annika Bruhns-Petersson won the title in the Tech category. Their startup help offers an app to support pain therapy. Prof. Dr Pia Wülfing was named Impact STARTERiN. With PINK! gegen Brustkrebs, she also addresses a medical issue, namely breast cancer treatment. In the Commerce category, Sora Mustafa won with her online shop vollefarben, which served as a marketplace for companies founded by entrepreneurs with a migrant background.
