The Food Innovation Camp (FIC) will take place for the seventh time on 23 June at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. Visitors can expect an expo with around 90 exhibitors, an extensive conference programme, a pitch competition, a show kitchen on the roof terrace and much more. A new addition to the programme is the Forum Foodsense art experience.

Hamburg presents itself as a food metropolis

‘Food Innovation Location Hamburg’ is the title of a panel at Food Innovation Camp 2025, where representatives from some of Hamburg's most important institutions involved in the food industry will have their say. They include Sascha Taube, Managing Director of the new Food Cluster, Christin Siegemund, founder of the foodlab, and Dr Malte Heyne, Managing Director of the Chamber of Commerce. Second Mayor Katharina Fegebank will take part in the discussion as well. The Food Cluster will also be providing information on its activities in other panels and, together with the Chamber of Commerce, on funding opportunities, and will be giving tips on the best sales channels for newcomers to the food business in a workshop.

Hamburg startups are present at the camp in a variety of ways. For example, traceless will be presenting disposable cutlery that is made entirely from agricultural waste and is compostable. LUYA Kidscorner will be providing free childcare, enabling parents to attend the event. Two of the most successful food tech companies will be making unusual appearances at the Forum Foodsense. As part of the FIC, artists will present their views on the future of food in a gallery and at music and theatre performances there. BLUU Seafood will be showing photos from a collaboration with photographer Anna Brauns, while MushRoots, a subsidiary of Infinite Roots, will be exhibiting a painting by Leon Farrenkopf, who was inspired by the fascinating world of mushrooms.

Lots of celebrities at the FIC

The final of the startup competition ‘Dein Newcomer 2025’, for which three startups have qualified, is eagerly awaited. The jury is made up of prominent figures: in addition to Jochen Vogel from the management of REWE Nord, which is organising a test listing as the main prize, the jury includes Ralf Dümmel, known as an investor from the TV show ‘Die Höhle der Löwen’, and Holger Stanislawski, ex-Bundesliga professional and manager of one of Hamburg's largest supermarkets. Founder Anna Lessing, doctor Aljosha Muttardi and dancer Stefanie Mejeh have made a name for themselves in the influencer scene and will explain in a panel how they communicate the nutritional change.
