The German Founder Award is bestowed in a total of five categories, including a special prize, for lifetime achievement and for students. The three candidates in the StartUp category for companies no more than three years old are Numbat with an innovative charging system for e-cars. WeSortAI with an AI-supported sorting process for waste separation. And BLUU Seafood, based in Hamburg and Berlin. The startup has created a sustainable alternative to industrial fishing. Fish cells from Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout are used to produce fish products that can compete in both flavour and nutritional value; an animal-ethical alternative for consumers without overburdening natural resources.
