"New materials for the city of tomorrow" - that's the core theme at the Hamburg Innovation Summit (HHIS) on June 2 and 3, 2022. The event thus picks up on one of the five fields of action of the Hamburg Innovation Strategy (RIS) and brings startups together with influential personalities at a conference with panel discussions, keynotes, networking events and online courses. The highlight is the Hamburg Innovation Awards ceremony.

Another highlight will be the launch of the Startup City Hamburg Platform. It offers a comprehensive overview of Hamburg's startup ecosystem and combines versatile information about funding opportunities as well as various networking possibilities. In addition to facts and figures on Hamburg's startup scene, current support and funding programmes for startups in Hamburg will be presented. Startup City Hamburg also provides a wide range of news and events from the startup scene.

Following the successful hybrid version of 2021, this year's HHIS will again be primarily an in-person event. In the Altona fish auction hall directly on the river Elbe, Hamburg presents itself as an innovation location with all its facets. There will be separate networking lounges for the fields of politics, business and science, and topics from these areas as well as social issues will also be on the agenda at the four panels. The event will be hosted by journalist Eva Schulz, and the closing keynote address will be given by author Janine Steeger, who specializes in sustainability and environmentalism.

The Hamburg Innovation Awards provide excitement

In the Startup Area, numerous young companies will exhibit and report on their successes, but also on their failures. Things get exciting in the afternoon: The winning teams in the categories IDEA, START and GROWTH are honored at the Hamburg Innovation Awards. Hamburg's Second Mayor Katharina Fegebank and Senator for Economic Affairs Michael Westhagemann will present the awards.

Those who would like to deepen their knowledge about Hamburg as a location for innovation and the startup world will have the opportunity to do so on Friday, June 3. Then the Online Academy will offer no less than 25 webinars. And they are even free of charge, just like the streaming offer on Thursday for those who can’t attend the live event.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Economics and Innovation (BWI), Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank (IFB Hamburg) and Hamburg Innovation GmbH.
