On June 23, the “Dein Newcomer 2025” prize will be awarded as part of the Food Innovation Camp at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. An important step on the way there is the recently launched public voting. Participants can choose between 43 different food products from startups.
The competition is being conducted by Hamburg Startups as the organiser of the Food Innovation Camp and the retail company REWE Nord. The products submitted range from snacks and pizza to drinks with and without alcohol and fermented foods such as tempeh and kimchi. The vast majority are vegetarian or even vegan. Participation requirements were an innovative character and a recent or imminent market entry.

“Dein Newcomer 2025” happens in several phases. The application phase, which ended in February, is now being followed by the public voting, in which anyone interested in food can take part until April 3. The 20 products with the most votes will be assessed by REWE Nord for their market potential. The eight most promising will then receive an invitation to the retailer's headquarters, where they can present themselves in a detailed pitch. This leaves three candidates to compete in the final at the Food Innovation Camp. There, a jury of experts will make the final decision as to which product will be awarded the title “Dein Newcomer 2025”. The main prize is a test listing in REWE Nord supermarkets.
