Hamburg is one of 15 regional groups

The Bundesverband Deutsche Startups e.V. has a total of just under 1,200 members and was founded in Berlin in September 2012. The association sees itself as the representative and the voice of startups in Germany. It represents the interests, viewpoints and concerns of startup companies vis-à-vis legislation, administration and the public. It promotes innovative entrepreneurship and carries the startup mentality into society. The association is best known for its annual Startup Monitor, for whose current edition almost 2,000 people from the startup scene were surveyed.

“What an honor to be able to take on this honorary office. In the future, I will not only fight for the interests of Boomerang, but also for those of the other great startups in and around Hamburg. In doing so, I want to improve the conditions for female founders and the entire startup ecosystem in Hamburg - together with my great colleagues Manuela Sayin and Lena Weirauch.”

There are a total of 15 regional groups with currently 39 regional speakers. They are appointed by the Startup Association office for a period of one year and are made up of Startup Association members in the regional groups. Their task is to use their experience regarding regional startup ecosystems to advocate for improvements at the state level. New spokesperson Marc Engelmann has developed a reusable solution for online retail with his startup Boomerang. In August 2023, it has received 1.1 million euros in a financing round.
