"With the tecHHub, Hamburg is reaffirming its commitment to linking business and science more closely. The DESY research center, areas of the University of Hamburg and, in future, the tecHHub will together form part of Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld. Researchers and innovative companies can work here in an innovative network - and with business development funds, we are creating space here that will also enable commercially successful spin-offs and innovations. In this way, this project strengthens Hamburg's innovative power."

Wide offer of office and laboratory space in the tecHHub Hamburg

Completion of tecHHUb Hamburg is scheduled for the end of 2023. On five full floors, the building with a gross floor area of around 5,600 m² will offer modern laboratory space as well as supplementary office space for rent. The aim is to meet the currently strong demand from young technology companies and research institutions in the life sciences sector for cost-effective space. Hamburg Invest and tecHHub Hamburg are realizing the project on behalf of the Ministry of Economics and Innovation and in close cooperation with DESY stakeholders. The building will be constructed in modular design. The general contractor is ADK Modulraum GmbH. The façade is made of Kebony wood and a steel canopy system for greening the façade. The total project costs are around 40 million euros.

The tecHHub Hamburg is part of the development plan for the Altona Innovation Park, which is currently in progress. In the immediate vicinity, the DESY Innovation Factory II technology and startup center is planned for the site, with completion scheduled for 2026. Interested parties can obtain more detailed information about the space available from 2024 from the Hamburg Economic Development Corporation.

"With the construction of the tecHHub, we can promptly meet the high demand for laboratory space in the life sciences industry. Thus, we not only offer young talents, courageous founders and innovative companies a new home, but also a highly attractive environment of DESY and the University of Hamburg. This will further advance Hamburg as a science and business location and put it on the international map."
