Female entrepreneur from Hamburg nominated for German Startup Awards
The German Startups Awards will be presented for the sixth time in Berlin on 22 May 2025. The candidates in eight categories have been announced, including Dr Julia Freudenberg from the Hacker School in Hamburg, who has been nominated as Female Impact Entrepreneur 2025. Voting for this category runs until 5 May.

The Hacker School teaches young people programming skills
The finalists for the German Startup Awards 2025 were determined in a multi-stage process, with a jury of experts ultimately selecting three candidates in each category. The jury also made the final decision in six categories. One exception is Female Impact Entrepreneur and Male Impact Entrepreneur of the Year, where there is an online public voting. Dr Julia Freudenberg, an entrepreneur from Hamburg, is one of the nominees in the women's category. She has headed the Hacker School since 2017.
The Hacker School was founded to get children and young people interested in programming. The declared aim is for every young person to acquire programming skills before deciding on a career. Low-threshold courses are designed to reach girls and young people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds in particular. To this end, the Hacker School has built up an extensive network of companies, schools and political representatives. If Dr Julia Freudenberg wins the vote, she will follow in the footsteps of Angela Relógio, who won the Female Newcomer category for Hamburg with her startup TimeTeller in 2024.
