Success Stories Startups Ecosystem Hamburg

Giving Hamburg's female startup founders even more visibility and awarding the best of them - that is the goal of the STARTERiN Hamburg 2023 competition, which Hamburg Startups is now organizing for the second time. The application phase has just started and will last until January 18, 2023.

The competition is aimed at female solopreneurs, female founding teams and female founders from mixed teams. Other conditions for participation are:

  • The prize will be awarded in three categories: tech, commerce and impact. The allocation is not made according to too strict criteria, every application has a chance.

  • The startup must be no more than five years old.

  • The startup must be based in Hamburg.

Audience and a jury decide

After the application deadline on January 18, the Hamburg Startups team will select ten candidates per category after careful consideration. These will then put themselves forward for election online in a public voting process that will run from February 8 to March 8. The two founders with the most votes per category will then compete in the final pitch on March 30. There, an expert jury will determine the three winners, who can expect attractive prizes. The competition's partners include Hamburg Invest and the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

At the first edition of STARTERiN Hamburg, held in June 2021, Yesica Rios from JOBMATCH.ME took the title in the tech category. JOBMATCH.ME is a placement platform for non-academic professions. In the commerce sector, Madeleine von Hohenfels of Bracenet was successful with trinkets made from recycled fishing nets. Britta Wiebe won in the impact category with Vulvani, an educational platform about menstruation.
