Success Stories Startups Ecosystem Hamburg

Especially at the beginning of their development, startups can make good use of the support of business angels, both financially and in terms of expertise. But how do you find these helpful partners? The best way is through business angel networks. We present three networks from the north here.

Baltic Business Angels

Baltic Business Angels e.V. was founded on the initiative of WTSH - Wirtschaftsförderung und Technologietransfer Schleswig-Holstein GmbH to provide a network for private investors and innovative startups. The association brings together people who are willing to invest their private capital in the development of innovative companies in the early stages. In addition to the financial commitment, experience, personal support, confidentiality as well as expertise and network knowledge are essential components of the co-operation. The most important facts about the startup, a pitch deck and a short team video are required for the application. Although the focus is on young companies from Schleswig-Holstein, startups from Hamburg have also benefited from the Baltic Business Angels, for example Sponsoo and PANDA.

BANSON

BANSON e. V. is an association that stands for the promotion of startups, founding culture and networking between the economy and the startup scene. Its members are private entrepreneurs, managing directors, companies, institutions, banks and private individuals who have founded their own companies and led them to success. The abbreviation BANSON stands for Business Angel Network South East Lower Saxony and is based in Braunschweig. This should not deter startups from Hamburg, with toern and Lignopure being cited as references. A pitch deck and a one-pager with specified information are sufficient for the application. Ideally, a test pitch and a matching evening will follow.

BANEW

With BANEW e. V., the abbreviation stands for Business Angels Netzwerk Elbe-Weser. This organisation is based in Hamburg and is supported by Tutech, a subsidiary of the Technical University of Hamburg and the City of Hamburg, among others. The application process is similar to that of the other two networks, although BANEW recommends a preliminary interview to sound out the chances. Afterwards, a predefined one-pager must be completed and a pitch deck or alternatively a video submitted. The pitch video is recommended, as it will be needed in the further application process anyway. If everything fits, there will be a meeting with potential investors, online or on site.
