traceless cooperates with Mondi for plastic-free paper coating
The Hamburg-based startup traceless has announced a strategic partnership with Mondi, a leading global packaging and paper manufacturer. The aim of this collaboration is to promote the use of traceless, a novel and natural plastic alternative, throughout the paper industry on a large scale.
traceless continues its success story
Synthetic plastics are often used in conventional paper coatings. These coatings, which are usually obtained from non-renewable fossil resources, are not biodegradable. In contrast, the material from traceless is compostable and decomposes in a short time without leaving any harmful residues. The partnership just announced is another milestone in the history of the startup founded by Anne Lamp and Johanna Baare in 2020. After completing a series A financing round totalling 36.6 million euros, the team began building its first large-scale production facility in Hamburg in 2024. traceless is already cooperating with well-known companies such as OTTO, Lufthansa and C&A for the development of product applications.
The new cooperation partner Mondi is a global leader in the packaging and paper sector. It employs 22,000 people in more than 30 countries and operates an integrated business model with expertise along the entire value chain. In 2023, Mondi achieved sales of 7.3 billion euros and an adjusted EBITDA of 1.2 billion euros. Mondi is listed as a premium company on the London Stock Exchange, where the group is listed on the FTSE100 index, and also has a secondary listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in South Africa, the company's country of origin.
