With 2023, a new startup year has just begun! There are a lot of big events coming up again, in Hamburg and beyond. For your annual planning, we give you an overview of the most important events on topics such as entrepreneurship, digitisation and innovation.

Events in the 1st quarter of 2023

January 12 - 15: Entrepreneur Ship - A ferry trip that is all about how you can take off with your project.

January 18 + 19: HAMBURG OPEN - a trade fair for the broadcast and media technology industry.

March 1 + 2: Hamburg Games Conference - a key topic will be investment in games.

March 10 - 14: Internorga - the leading food trade fair also offers startups plenty of exhibition space.

March 21 + 22: d3con - this conference is all about the future of digital advertising.

March 30: STARTERiN Hamburg 2023 - finale of the competition for female founders.

Events in the 2nd quarter of 2023

April 12: Hamburg Startup Conference - according to the company's own advertising, this event is intended to bring together hundreds of founders and investors.

May 9 + 10: OMR Festival - this major international event will once again draw tens of thousands to the exhibition halls.

May 22: Food Innovation Camp - the industry meeting place for the sustainable food scene.

End of May: techcamp - the networking event for the Hamburg IT community. More details will follow.

June 6 - 8: Aircraft Interiors Expo - the trade show for the aviation industry.

June 14: New Work Experience - the festival for work and the future.

June 14: Female StartAperitivo - the qualification competition for female founders from Hamburg. The final will take place on July 6.

June 21 + 22: Procurement Summit - the trade fair for digitalization and innovation in procurement.

June 28 + 29: H2EXPO & CONFERENCE - where the international network of the hydrogen industry meets.

June 28 - 30: BLOCKCHANCE - the AI.SUMMIT will also be held in the vicinity of this blockchain conference.

Events in the 2nd half of 2023

Many dates are still open for the second half of the year. The following events are definitely scheduled to take place:

September 6 - 8: solutions: - the congress for digital transformation.

September 20 - 23: Reeperbahn Festival - the NEXT Conference will once again take place as part of the music festival.

October 11 +12: Fintech Week - in a condensed form and with a new concept.

October 12: Online-Karrieretag - the trade fair for jobs in the digital industry.

Events outside Hamburg

Of course, the startup calendar is also full to bursting in many other cities in Germany. Here is just a small selection.

April 17 - 21: Hannover Messe - this classic event offers a wealth of topics relevant to startups.

June 14 - 16: Greentech Festival Berlin - everything revolves around green and sustainable technologies.

September 20 + 21: DMEXCO Cologne - defines itself as the meeting place for decision-makers from digital business, marketing and innovation.

September 24 - 26: Bits & Pretzels Munich - also gives itself the name The Founders Festival.

October 4 - 6: EXPO REAL Munich - the international trade fair for real estate and investment.

The Pirate Summit in Cologne, which is very popular in startup circles, took place in early September in 2022. The exact date for next year has yet to be announced.

International Highlights

These three international events have been enjoying great popularity in the Hamburg startup scene for years:

March 10 - 19: SXSW in Austin, Texas.

November 13 - 16: Web Summit in Lisbon / Portugal

November 30 + December 1: Slush in Helsinki / Finland
