For the sixth time, foodlab, based in Hamburg's HafenCity, is running a supporting programme for gastronomy startups with its accelerator. Founders who want to come a big step closer to fulfilling their dream of owning their own restaurant can apply until 31 July.

What the foodlab's gastronomy accelerator offers

The accelerator is aimed at prospective restaurant founders who want to transform their idea into a successful concept. Five learning modules lay the foundations for this - from concept development and kitchen planning to financing and operations. There are 19 coaches available to impart knowledge. The foodlab also opens up access to an extensive network and exclusive food ecosystem and offers a test area, both in the foodlab itself and with event partners. Programme highlights include a pop-up restaurant for which you can apply, a pitch slot at the Rolling Pin Convention and a presence on the foodlab stage at Internorga 2026.

No previous catering experience is required for the application, but the following conditions must be met:

  • preparation of a business plan of at least 15 pages

  • draft of a menu card

  • recipes for three finished dishes

  • time to participate in all modules

  • a lot of passion and a little bit of suffering

After reviewing all applications, a shortlist is drawn up. The most promising candidates will receive an invitation to a pitch training session on 4 September. The decisive pitch will then take place on 5 September, where ten startups will be selected for the programme, which then starts on 1 October. The participation fee is 299 euros per person.
