Startup Planningo receives award from Federal Ministry of Economics
Research at the University of Excellence Hamburg is often the starting point for successful business ideas. With the startup Planningo, one of these spin-offs has now received an award at the startup competition for digital innovations of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. The startup prize is endowed with 7,000 euros and also offers coaching, seminars and access to networks relevant to startups.
Planningo digitizes production planning
The Planningo team of Dr. Justus Bonz, Dr. Nikolai Heinrichs, Dr. Matthes Koch, Dr. Markus Mickein and Dr. Nils Roemer has developed a software solution for digitizing and automating production planning. Complex production systems are digitally mapped in detail. With the help of this so-called digital twin and special optimization algorithms, suitable production plans are created for specific production scenarios. This enables companies to determine optimized production plans at the push of a button, resulting in a more balanced workload for the workforce, greater resilience of companies to the shortage of skilled workers, and more environmentally friendly production.
The founders all worked as research assistants at the Faculty of Business Administration and did research and PhDs on topics in the field of mathematical optimization. The planning software is also based on research results obtained during a doctorate at the University of Hamburg (UHH). Planningo was supported by the University's Transfer Agency as well as the Management Transfer Lab of the Faculty of Business Administration and received EXIST funding from the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection. They have been supported by beyourpilot since the beginning of 2022.
