Planeteers secures seven-figure financing
Planeteers has received a significant single-digit million amount in a seed financing round. The Hamburg-based startup has developed a method for capturing CO2. In addition to existing investors, BonVenture, Smart Energy Innovationsfonds AG from Energy 360° AG and ClimaNow are also involved in the round.
A technological innovation to combat climate change
Planeteers was founded in December 2022 by Frank Rattey, Florian Birner, Jens Hartmann and Florian Brinkmann. The technology developed by the startup aims to neutralise large quantities of CO2 with the help of limestone and store it permanently in the sea as hydrogen carbonate - a substance contained in natural mineral water. This process normally takes thousands of years in nature, but Planeteers has reduced the duration to just a few minutes. The technology is based on twelve years of research and has already proven itself in various phases.
The current funding will enable the company to intensify its activities, expand its team and accelerate its market entry. ‘We are thrilled to have the support of such reputable investors,’ says Florian Birner, one of the founders. ‘This investment is a testament to the potential of our technology to make a significant impact on climate change.’
