Funding initiative Green Potential Screening enters 3rd round
Many companies would like to make a contribution to climate and environmental protection, but are not sure how this could be done. This is where the Green Potential Screening initiative from the IFB Hamburg development bank comes in. It examines the potential and feasibility of projects and supports companies with a funding rate of up to 70 %.
Startups can benefit particularly from the funding
The Green Potential Screening focuses on innovations in the areas of resource and energy efficiency as well as the circular economy. Associated with this is a feasibility study to identify and concretise potentials in terms of climate and environmental protection. The purpose is to identify significant environmental relief potentials (resource efficiency, energy efficiency, product life cycle) and, if applicable, to evaluate the CO2 equivalent in order to create a basis for a subsequent use of these savings potentials within the framework of a research and development project.
Companies and consortia of companies with an operating facility in Hamburg are eligible to apply. The funding rate is based on the size of the company. This is up to 50 % for large companies, up to 60 % for medium-sized companies and up to 70 % for small companies and startups. Hamburg universities, that act as cooperation partners of a company, can also participate. Under certain conditions, they receive a funding rate of 100 %. Experience from the two rounds so far shows that projects with a duration of four to 18 months have average grant volumes of up to 85,000 euros for individual projects and up to 125,000 euros for cooperation projects.
Companies, that have already participated in the Green Potential Screening, include corporations such as Tchibo, but also startups such as traceless materials and Wildplastic. To be able to make a decision on a funding application in the first quarter of 2024, it must be received by IFB Hamburg by 20 December 2023 at the latest.
