Two Hamburg startups among the winners of the nextReality.Contest
Last week, the winners of the nextReality.Contest in eight categories were chosen as part of the first nextReality.festival. With Apprisify and Immerzed, two startups from Hamburg were awarded.
Apprisify: Augmented reality for safer ship navigation
The nextReality.Contest was organised by nextReality.Hamburg e.V. for the first time in 2017. The competition is aimed at concepts and business models that use technologies from the fields of virtual, augmented and mixed reality. This year, in the Interactive Business category, the prize went to Apprisify from Hamburg. This startup uses augmented reality to turn normal windows into information surfaces. This can be used for commercial purposes, for example in department store windows or on the bridge of ships to display important navigation data. A field study carried out in collaboration with the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) has already proven the effectiveness of the procedure.
Immerzed: emergency medical training with virtual reality
Immerzed, another startup from Hamburg, came out on top in the Interactive Education category. With VRescue, it has developed a flexible, immersive and easy-to-use complete solution to improve practical emergency doctor training. VRescue consists of a virtual reality simulation and a web application for trainers. An accompanying app for trainees is currently being planned. In the web application with virtual patients, simulations can be fully customised to individual needs and case scenarios can be created. Users receive automatic feedback on their performance.
