On July 6, the final of the Female StartAperitivo competition will take place at Hamburg's Knust music club. Ten startups led by women from ten German states will compete there. Angela Relógio from TimeTeller is now the Hamburg representative.

Only 20% of startups in Germany have a woman on the founding team. On average, men receive nine times as much venture capital as women. Two figures from 2022 that are repeatedly mentioned in connection with Female StartAperitivo and illustrate why there is still a need for a competition that gives female founders more visibility. This is exactly what the event, run by the Hamburg Investors Network, is now doing nationwide. For the Hamburg berth, ten startups led by women, which we had already presented in an article, pitched on June 14 in the coworking space eeden,. There was one change: Instead of onbooks, the digital travel guide oneGuide, which is using augmented reality, joined the pitch, represented by Wiebke Nadzeika.

TimeTeller convinced with a life-saving idea

The decision as to which startup would represent Hamburg in the finals was made by a ten-member, all-women jury and the large audience. Third place went to Mom Hunting, a talent platform for career-minded mothers where companies have to vie for candidates. Boomerang received the second most votes for a reusable system for shipping packaging.

Prof. Dr. Angela Relógio took first place by a clear margin with TimeTeller. This startup is still at its very beginning, but impressed with an idea that could save many lives. TimeTeller uses the internal biological clock, which ticks differently for everyone, to determine the best time for certain medications. Specifically, it’s about chemotherapy for cancer, where the time factor can result in up to five times greater effectiveness, according to the founder. Since the approval process for medical products is particularly complex, market entry is not planned until 2027.

Already on July 6, TimeTeller will represent Hamburg at the finale of Female StartAperitivo. Tickets for the event at Knust can be purchased here for free.
