Success Stories Startups Ecosystem Hamburg

On 17 September 2024, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection will bring together the entire startup ecosystem at the Startup Germany Summit in Berlin to present Germany as a strong startup location. Like all other federal states, Hamburg is participating in the programme in a variety of ways. Here is an overview of the Hanseatic city's activities at the summit.

The Community Stage belongs to the federal states

The German startup scene will present itself in all its facets on a total of four stages from 9.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Berlin Congress Center. Economics Minister Dr Robert Habeck will give the welcoming address and Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz will deliver the closing speech. Hamburg will be represented on all stages, including the Community Stage, which will focus on activities in the individual federal states. A panel on the topic of female founders is on the programme there at 12:30. Heidrun Twesten, who has made a name for herself as an investor and mentor, will then discuss strategies for more diversity in the startup scene. At 15:00, the programme will focus on ‘GovTech - what modern administrations can achieve’. Hamburg has launched a pioneering initiative in this area.

A diverse stage programme and more

The programme on the Main Stage is particularly extensive. As part of the Startup Germany Contest, Angela Relógio will be pitching her multi-award-winning MedTech startup TimeTeller. At 13:30, the topic of ‘Cultural and Gender Diversity’ will be on the agenda and Lucy Larbi from the AiDiA Pitch for Afro-German founders will be on stage. Lena Weirauch, founder of ai-omatic, will be one of the participants in a panel on the Startup Perspective 2030 from 14:35. At the same time, it is always worth taking a look at the Strategy Stage. For example, at 12.30, when Christian Pfromm will report on his role as CDO of the City of Hamburg. Or at 15.45, when you can find out which collaborations the Digital Hub Logistics makes possible for startups.

The Hub will also be topic on the International Stage. At 14:00, Aileen Schmuck, Head of Innovation & Ecosystems, will be speaking on a panel. At 15:25, Johannes Berg, Director Corporate Affairs & Innovation at HHLA AG, will make an appearance. Both programme items are about a transnational view of the startup world. The Startup Germany Summit also has a lot to offer away from the stage. Hamburg Invest's Startup-Unit will have its own stand at an expo. The trip to Berlin on 17 September is therefore worthwhile for many reasons!
