Hamburg Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship celebrates its launch
The Hamburg Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship was founded in April 2023 and is now celebrating its official launch. To kick things off, Boris Kozlowski from the management team tells us who is involved in the registered association and what its goals are.
Who is behind the Hamburg Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship?
The Hamburg Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship e.V. was founded by the City of Hamburg in 2023. Its mission is to create an urban environment that promotes and strengthens social entrepreneurship. The five founding members represent different sectors of the social entrepreneurship ecosystem: administration (Ministry of Economics and Innovation), foundations (Holistic Foundation, Körber Foundation), educational institutions (University of Hamburg), non-profit organisations (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Freien Wohlfahrtspflege Hamburg) and social entrepreneurs (Social Entrepreneurship Network Germany) themselves. In addition to the founding members, who form the board of the association, there is an office with currently five full-time employees.
What is the City of Hamburg's social entrepreneurship strategy?
The social entrepreneurship strategy of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg is supposed to encourage social entrepreneurs to develop and implement innovative solutions for social challenges. It aims to improve the infrastructure for social entrepreneurship, promote social innovation in the city, facilitate access to funding opportunities and increase the visibility of social enterprises. In addition, emphasis is placed on education and research in the field of social entrepreneurship, for example to inspire young people for social entrepreneurship.
What can we expect from the Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship?
The Alliance for Social Entrepreneurship wants to act as a catalyst for the development and scaling of social innovations in Hamburg. It aims to promote exchange between relevant stakeholders, facilitate access to resources and expertise and support social entrepreneurs in their projects. This also includes giving social entrepreneurs in Hamburg a common face through various communication measures and campaigns. In addition, interested organisations can now take advantage of initial and referral advice tailored to the needs of social entrepreneurs. In the coming months, we are planning regular information and networking events at which we will offer social entrepreneurs and their topics a stage. Last but not least, the alliance is initiating so-called impact partnerships between different sectors in order to improve the framework conditions for social entrepreneurship in the city.
