The two new funding programmes InnoVentureFonds and HamburgInnoGrowth are intended to strengthen innovative startups and companies from Hamburg. A total of 69 million euros in venture and equity capital is now available for this purpose.
What InnoVentureFonds and HamburgInnoGrowth offer
Innovative startups can receive equity capital via the InnoVentureFonds (IVF). The IVF is managed by IFB Innovationsstarter GmbH and specialises in venture capital financing for innovative startups in larger financing rounds. Funding of up to seven million euros per company is possible on condition that private investors participate significantly in the respective financing round.
Under the Hamburg InnoGrowth programme, typical silent partnerships of up to 2.5 million euros can be applied for from Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Hamburg mbH. The programme is aimed at social entrepreneurs and growth-oriented SMEs based in Hamburg with a group turnover of up to 75 million euros and innovative business models (e.g. ecological, digital and social).
The total funding amount of 69 million euros is made up of funds from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (21 million euros, 30 per cent of the total funding) and funds from the Federal Government's Future Fund (48 million euros, 70 per cent) in the RegioInnoGrowth module, which is managed by KfW. IFB Hamburg pools the funds and passes them on to IFB Innovationsstarter GmbH and Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft.
