The non-profit VIVO Carbon gGmbH implements agroforestry systems in Germany, a combination of agriculture and trees. Agroforestry sequesters CO₂ in living, productive ecosystems, increases biodiversity and helps agriculture adapt to climate change. The projects will initially be financed through donations and in the future through the sale of CO₂ certificates and will be managed in cooperation with agricultural businesses. After the wood is harvested, the bound carbon is permanently stored in building materials, for example.
