The ItchyMonsters improve the treatment of atopic dermatitis in children with an innovative app that uses gamification and AR to playfully encourage young patients to adhere to their treatment. Children are motivated by virtual “ItchyMonsters” to apply cream regularly. This saves practice resources, as patients and their parents have to consult dermatologists less often. Thanks to milder courses, expensive treatment alternatives are required less frequently and hospital stays are reduced. ItchyMonsters also improves collaboration between parents, children and doctors thanks to an integrated diary function and the sensible use of AI in data analysis.
