Three fintech startups from Hamburg founded by women
Women are still in the minority when it comes to founding startups, and this is even more true in the fintech sector. But there are exceptions. With Brygge, moneten and Finstein, we present three Hamburg-based financial startups in which women play a leading role.
Brygge
The startup Brygge was founded in 2021 by three women, of whom Cornelia Schwertner and Bianca Steinke still form the management team. Both previously worked for the Hamburg-based fintech figo. With Brygge, they offer a web app primarily for older, less online-experienced people that makes internet banking easier for users. The digital account statement contains tips on everyday finances and warnings. The aim is to equip customers so that they are automatically protected against financial risks.
moneten
A similar approach to Brygge takes moneten by Selina Haupt and Andreas Lempik. However, their focus is not on older people, but on women, although men are also welcome. moneten says it wants to create an app-based financial offering that helps people to make smart financial decisions based on their needs, goals and circumstances with the help of individual learning journeys and supporting tools. The startup, which was founded in 2023, is currently still in the development phase.
Finstein
Finstein, a fintech founded by Saskia and Ozan Sözeri in 2019, is already established on the market. Its app enables companies to easily pay their employees a higher net salary without incurring additional costs. This is based on the principle of wage cost optimisation, which is usually associated with administrative work. Finstein's software relieves customers of this burden, making it easier for companies to pay their team more, regardless of their size.
