The German Startup Monitor (DSM) serves the public and politicians as the most important source of information and provides key impetus for the further development of the German startup ecosystem with its respective focal points. This year, the inquiry is entering its twelfth round and the survey phase has just started.
High participation ensures greater relevance of the DSM
Last year, a total of 1,825 startups took part in the survey, 120 of them from Hamburg. This is fewer than in 2022, although a high level of participation is important in order to obtain as accurate a picture of the mood as possible. The core objective of the study is to identify the importance of startups and the key developments in the ecosystem in Germany. At the same time, the greatest opportunities, challenges and associated potential for improvement will be identified. Last but not least, the German Startup Monitor is intended to strengthen the entrepreneurial spirit and entrepreneurship in society and encourage more people to start a business.
The DSM is organised by the German Startups Association in cooperation with the management consultancy PwC Germany and netSTART, a provider of lectures, seminars and workshops. All startups that are less than ten years old can take part. They should also be as innovative as possible in terms of their products or services and business models or technologies. Another startup criterion is high growth potential. The survey takes about 10 minutes. All data is analysed and processed anonymously.
