In Hamburg, there are a number of initiatives and campaigns that aim to put female startup founders in the spotlight. One of these is the STARTERiN Hamburg 2023 competition run by Hamburg Startups. Public voting has just started, giving the opportunity to vote on which female candidates qualify for the final on March 30.
Second Mayor Fegebank assumes patronage
Female founders were able to apply for STARTERiN Hamburg 2023 in the categories Tech, Commerce and Impact until the end of January. Hamburg Startups is with immediate effect presenting the selected TOP 36 female founders on its website. Now it's up to the community to vote for their favorites in a public voting. The balloting phase ends on March 8. The two female founders in each category with the most votes will present their startup ideas live on stage at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce in a pitch on March 30, starting at 6 pm. Katharina Fegebank, Second Mayor and Senator for Science, Research, Equality and Districts of the City of Hamburg, could be won as patron.
The STARTERiN Hamburg competition is taking place for the second time this year after its premiere in 2021. In the first edition Yesica Ríos from JOBMATCH.ME (Tech), Madeleine von Hohenthal from Bracenet (Commerce) and Britta Wiebe from Vulvani (Impact) won the title.
