Hamburg is getting a new competition for young startup talent called Impact Battle. Students from grade 8 onwards are invited to develop their own ideas for social challenges, ranging from climate justice to mental health and social cohesion. The deadline for applications is 19 October, and the final will take place on 12 November.
Online course, workshops and startup visits to help with preparation
Impact Battle is organised by the SEEd (Social Entrepreneurship Education) initiative. Teams of students can register for the competition using an online form. A free online course on the website guides young people step by step through the process of developing ideas, regardless of whether they already have a concrete idea or not. It is suitable for independent participation by teams as well as for classes, courses and working groups accompanied by teachers.
At the start of the new school year, Hamburg schools can book free kick-off workshops led by experienced SEEd trainers. In 90 minutes, students learn how to turn observations from their everyday lives into concrete ideas for solutions and what steps are needed to turn them into a project. In addition, social startups can be invited to report firsthand on how they were founded, what challenges they have experienced, and how they are implementing their ideas. The Impact Battle is under the patronage of Hamburg's Senator for Economic Affairs, Dr. Melanie Leonhard, and is sponsored by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
