BALTIPLAST helps startups to avoid plastic waste
Sustainability is at the top of the agenda for many startups. Either their business model is directly geared towards it, or they are at least striving to operate as sustainably as possible. Avoiding plastic is an important factor here. The EU-funded BALTIPLAST initiative, which offers practical and technological solutions for reducing plastic waste, can help at it.
The Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme, based in Rostock, manages the funding of projects such as BALTIPLAST, which is coordinated by the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW). As part of the project, HAW has developed the Plastic Inventory Tool, which is primarily intended to be used by small companies and startups to assess and reduce their plastic waste. Companies can now test this tool and benefit from it.

How the Plastic Inventory Tool works
These four steps can be implemented with the tool:
Plastic consumption assessment - The tool helps to document a company's single-use plastic consumption and highlights key areas for change.
Identify reduction opportunities - Based on the assessment, the tool suggests practical, easy-to-implement solutions tailored to the needs of the business.
Implementing the recommended measures - tracking progress and adjusting strategies where necessary.
Measuring impact - comparing initial data with post-implementation results to see the tangible impact of efforts.
There is a guide to using the tool, which can be downloaded here, as well as monthly coaching sessions.
