Success Stories Startups Ecosystem Hamburg

Over 100 startups are now part of the Digital Hub Logistics network. They come from all over Germany and other European countries, but of course many are also headquartered in Hamburg. We briefly introduce three of them: BOXXPORT, LEAFR and Sirum.

BOXXPORT

Founded in 2019, the startup BOXXPORT claims to operate the world's largest online container trading platform. The company reaches customers in over 180 countries and provides access to more than 40,000 container units in a wide range of uses and sizes. BOXXPORT enables buyers to manage negotiations smoothly, allowing them to negotiate with sellers multiple times to get the best offer. Buyers and sellers, on the other hand, are supported by a feature called “Container Radar”, which allows them to see the pre-demand for containers and adjust their offers accordingly.

LEAFR

The startup LEAFR has taken on the delivery of chilled food over the last mile. The company attaches particular importance to avoiding CO2 emissions and plastic waste. Deliveries are made using electrically powered vehicles and so-called active cooling is used. A special cooling device is deployed to control the temperature in the cargo area, creating an artificial cold zone that keeps the food cool. Special packaging is not required, as is the case with passive cooling. LEAFR was founded in 2023 as a corporate venture of the food logistics company Nagel-Group.

Sirum

Sirum was founded in 2016 with the aim of establishing a new technology standard for transport management systems. With its web-based transport management system (TMS), the startup offers medium-sized logistics companies a standardised solution that can be easily adapted to individual needs and capacities thanks to its modularity. The software maps all relevant processes such as order management, scheduling and invoicing in one system. The offer also includes a driver app as well as customer and company portals that enable automated data exchange.
