The recently-ended SLUSH, Europe's largest startup event, was held in Helsinki from November 17 to 18 with 12,000 visitors including 4,200 startups and 2,200 investors.
Four Hamburg-based startups seized the opportunity to present their companies to an international audience and network with investors. Boomerang, Etvas, receeve and Spacific GmbH were on board. Backed by Hamburg Invest’s Startup Unit, a joint stand was hosted with Berlin Partner, Köln Business and Munich Startup at “the world's largest gathering of venture capital events”.
"We were really happy to get the opportunity to travel with Hamburg and represent the local VC and startup community in Helsinki. The ability to use the stand for networking was highly beneficial for us to leverage SLUSH for leads.” Paul Jozefak, CEO of receeve
"We at Boomerang were able to exchange ideas with investors and new partners at SLUSH. The interaction with other German start-ups and investors in particular was very fruitful. Thank you for the great opportunity of going to SLUSH with you." Marc Engelmann, Founder & CEO Boomerang
"Being able to represent the Hamburg start-up ecosystem with Spacific GmbH at SLUSH opens up international contacts and doors for us. We are very grateful to have this opportunity and to see the potential of our solutions confirmed." Gina Semmelhack, Co-Founder & CMO Spacific GmbH
The visit to the conference was also a complete success for the Startup Unit team. "Many exciting contacts were made with startups, corporates and investors who are interested in Hamburg as a location," said Veronika Reichboth, Head of the Startup Unit. Helsinki really is becoming a hotsport of start-ups and holds huge potential. Thus, the Startup Unit will head to Helsinki in early 2023 with another delegation of Hamburg-based startups.
