Actually, startups are rather known for having particularly long working hours, sometimes even on weekends. The chatbot specialist moin.ai is taking a completely different approach and is introducing a 4-day week for everyone starting in August. In doing so, the company is responding to Generation Z's desire for a better work-life balance.
This is not the first time that knowhere GmbH, the company behind moin.ai, has demonstrated flexibility. The startup began as a travel portal and thus in a particularly fiercely competitive market. As one of the first providers, knowhere used self-developed chatbots for customer advice. This proved to be a stroke of luck because the original business model did not have the hoped-for success. Instead, the demand for chatbot solutions increased. After winning its first major customer, Jägermeister, the young company specialized in this area. Since April 2020 under the brand name moin.ai.
As the name moin.ai suggests, artificial intelligence (AI) plays an important role in chatbot technology. It also helps moin.ai to take the current step, which is a small revolution for a startup. Starting in August, the working hours for the entire team will be reduced from 40 to 32 hours, spread over the days Monday to Thursday; Friday is free. And that's with full wage compensation.
To make this possible, moin.ai has analyzed its work processes in detail and is also striving for optimal resource utilization with the help of AI. In addition, the core team of around twenty people is growing continuously, and there is a particular need in customer support. By introducing the 4-day week, the startup hopes to gain an advantage in recruiting new professionals. Moreover, the fact that moin.ai has been completely self-financed so far means that there is no pressure to grow faster from external investors who might object to the new working hours model.
