Planlos is a young EdTech startup from Hamburg with the mission to reinvent career and study orientation for young people. Our platform gives students, university attendees, and career changers the opportunity to discover exciting career paths in a modern and interactive way – with just a swipe on our app or website, they can intuitively find apprenticeships, degree programs, or jobs.
Engaging short videos in a TikTok-style format provide authentic insights into various professions. At the same time, Planlos acts as a job board for internships, apprenticeships, dual study programs, and entry-level positions. We collaborate closely with schools, universities, companies, and public institutions to rethink career orientation from the ground up. Our motto: “With Planlos, your plan begins” – we make orientation easy and turn uncertainty into clarity. (Note: We are currently in the founding phase (business plan in progress) and are developing our first MVP.)
As a technical co-founder and future CTO, you will take full responsibility for technical product development at Planlos – from concept to implementation and continuous improvement of our MVP. You will actively build the first version of our app and website, shape our technological foundation, and create scalable, modern solutions with real impact.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Frontend Development: Build a responsive, high-performance UI using modern frameworks like React, Next.js, Flutter, or React Native – for an intuitive user experience on both web and mobile.
Backend Development & API Design: Design and implement a scalable backend structure using Node.js, FastAPI, or Django. Develop APIs (REST or GraphQL) to efficiently connect our app, web platform, and future integrations (e.g., with schools).
Database Management: Design and manage our data infrastructure – using solutions such as Firebase, Supabase, or PostgreSQL – ensuring clean data flows and security.
User Management & Authentication: Integrate secure login and authentication systems, e.g., with Firebase Auth, Auth0, or Clerk.
Video Integration & Media Handling: Implement short videos and other media using tools like Mux, Cloudinary, or the Vimeo API, optimized for various devices.
Gamification Features: Develop a playful user journey with custom logics for badges, XP, progress tracking, and daily challenges to keep users motivated.
Deployment & Hosting: Set up a performant hosting environment for the MVP and future scaling – e.g., using Vercel, Netlify, Firebase Hosting, or Heroku.
CI/CD & DevOps: Establish clean deployment processes (e.g., GitHub Actions) and, where appropriate, containerization with Docker.
Analytics & User Behavior: Integrate privacy-compliant tracking tools such as Plausible, PostHog, or Google Analytics to enable data-driven decisions.
Tooling & Collaboration: Work closely with the founding team (and external designers if necessary) – using tools like Figma, Trello, Notion, and Slack – while actively contributing your technical perspective to product strategy.
You will not just be a developer but also an architect, visionary, and co-creator. Your decisions will shape how Planlos evolves technologically – from the very first line of code to a fully scalable platform.
IT Background: A completed degree in computer science or a related STEM field (Bachelor or Master) – alternatively, solid practical experience.
Technical Expertise: You have built web and/or app projects, are familiar with modern technologies, and have experience in full-stack or mobile development.
Startup Mindset: You are excited to build something from scratch, think in solutions, and are not afraid of taking responsibility.
Design & Gamification Affinity: UX, gamification, and user-centric design matter to you – you want to build something fun and impactful.
Social Impact Motivation: You want to use technology to create meaningful change. Maybe you were once “planless” yourself and want to help young people find real orientation.
Reliability & Team Spirit: We are looking for someone dependable, communicative, and who shares our vision.
Location: Ideally Hamburg, but remote work is absolutely possible – we currently operate fully location-independent.
Co-Founder Position with Responsibility: You will become part of the founding team – not as an external developer but as a true co-founder who actively shapes the future of Planlos.
Equity & Decision-Making: As technical co-founder, you’ll receive company shares and participate in all strategic decisions – from tech architecture to business model.
