In October 2025, Hamburg-based energy startup 1KOMMA5° received new orders totaling around 105 million euros within a single month for the first time since its founding in 2021. This includes new major orders from a leading Danish railway company and the state of Lower Saxony.

AI software key to success

The company sees its Heartbeat AI software offering as the main reason for the growing customer interest. The intelligent energy management connects customers' energy systems and controls them in such a way that electricity is purchased when prices are low and sold again when prices are high. This allows households to benefit from particularly low electricity prices while stabilising the grid when there is too much or too little electricity. Heartbeat AI is already one of Europe's largest virtual power plants for private households. By 2027, 1KOMMA5° plans to invest over 100 million euros in expanding its software business and to bundle a total of 20 GW of capacity in its virtual power plant by 2030.

“We are delighted that 1KOMMA5° is growing in all areas – and globally. In the end customer segment in Germany, growth is 40 percent compared to the same month last year. In addition, we are now receiving large orders for the first time from real estate owners with thousands of buildings in their portfolios. Medium-sized real estate owners in particular are becoming increasingly active.”
